Local 1900 Grievance Filing Process

1) Call the Union Hall to speak to the Business Mgr. or a Business Representative regarding the topic of the complaint, possible grievance.

2) The Union Hall will issue you a grievance number.

3) Write the grievance as soon as possible (W/I 3 days)and have it signed by all involved, including you, the Steward.

4) Once you have had the original grievance signed by everyone, including the Department Head/Supervisor, mail a copy (address upper right of this website) or fax (301-322-6181) a copy to the Union Hall. (Be sure you keep a copy of the grievance for your files). Also, be sure to send any/all supporting documentation to the Union Hall, as well.

5) The First Step Hearing is between the Steward of record, the grievant(s) and the Department Manager/Supervisor. The Union Hall does not attend the First Step Hearings. Also, notify the Union Hall when the Step 1 has been heard in order for her to update the Local's records.
